Ride to Happy Jack: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HgtdtzvsV8pygMkS8
Usual route to SR202 to SR101 to SR87, SR87 north to Payson for a gas stop. Continue north on SR87 (through Pine and Strawberry) to Lake Mary Rd, then left onto Lake Mary Rd, then left into Happy Jack Lodge and RV park. This is about 131 miles, about 2.5 hours.
Restuarant opens at 1030 on Sundays (menu at <https://www.happyjacklodge.com/jack-s-bar.html>). Note that they do not serve breakfast food; if people feel strongly about that, recommend a stop at the Payson Airport for breakfast.
Return trip options:
1) turn around and go back the same way. A bit boring, but easy. About 131 miles, 2.5 hours (with a gas stop)
2) continue up Lake Mary Rd to Circle K near Flagstaff (3350 Lake Mary Rd #9311, Flagstaff, AZ 86001), then continue under I-17 and make a left onto Beulah Blvd, take Beulah to the traffic circle at Fairgrounds Rd, enter I-17 and return home via I-17. <https://maps.app.goo.gl/WEoBCfvnygbZvwP46> 209 miles, 4 hours
But since people hate I-17 (with good reason), here’s an alternative:
3) Go back to SR87, turn right, then turn right at SR260. Continue on SR260 through Camp Verde (consider a gas stop here), across I-17, and through Cottonwood to SR89A, follow SR89A all the way through Jerome and over Mingus Mountain to the end of the Pioneer Parkway section, left on Williamson Valley Rd, right on Iron Springs RD, follow that all the way through Skull Valley and Kirkland, left on Kirkland Valley Rd, right on SR89, take that down through Yarnell, down the mountain (past Ferguson’s Curve) to US93, left on US. 93 to Vulture Mine Rd, and gas stop at that Mobil station. From there, US93 to US60 to SR303 to I-10 to SR202. 253 miles
